Why She Unplugged: You know that old saying, "wherever you go, there you are?" Well, after moving countless times and still finding myself with the same basic set of problems and issues, I finally realized that it wasn't my setting that had to change, it was me. Having a near-death experience ripped a veil from my eyes, allowing me to see that the way I was living my life, my whole existence, was an artificial construct."
How She Unplugged: "I sold everything I thought was ultimately replaceable, stored my car and left some of my things with my best friend and some with my dad. I joined a ten week volunteer expedition to South Africa with Global Vision International and worked with lions, hyena, cheetahs, leopards wild dogs and elephants. I lived for ten weeks in the African bush in a basic facility with no electricity, radio or television, just connecting with nature. It was the best experience of my life."
Best Experience: "The whole thing, really. But if I had to choose an unforgettable moment: Getting charged by elephants!"
Worst Experience: "Getting charged by elephants!"
Lessons Learned: "When you are not at a good point in your life, when you realize that you don't really know yourself or the things that truly fulfill you, the best thing you can do is to "unplug." If done properly, this is not "running away" from your problems, but walking slowly towards your true self."
